What is a Portable Appliance Test (PAT)?

Electrical Appliances are tested to establish compliance with The Electrical Institute of Engineers code of practice for In-Service Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment. This is a basic safety standard that all electrical appliances are required to comply with and be maintained to.

Testing must be undertaken by a competent person, normally an engineer specifically trained to test electrical appliances, understand and be able to interpret the results.

All RBS engineers hold City & Guild certificates in :
Certificate of competence for the Inspection & Testing of electrical equipment.
Certificate of competence for the management of electrical equipment & maintenance.
